The state of Maharashtra has implemented various educational schemes to achieve the goal of education at the following four levels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(1) Primary Education:<\/strong> <br>a) The state of Maharashtra has implemented the right to education (RTE) for children in the age group 6-14 years to provide free and compulsory education under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).<br>b) The expenditure of the state government on primary education was \u20b919,486 crores during 2016-17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(2) Secondary and Higher Secondary Education:<br><\/strong>a) Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) was launched in 2009.
